Villajoyosa incorporates an electric vehicle to bring tourist information to beaches, events and areas with high visitor traffic

La actuación permitirá desplegar una oficina de turismo móvil para mejorar la atención al turista y reforzar la promoción sostenible del municipio

The Villajoyosa City Council has incorporated a new sustainable mobility system for the Department of Tourism: an electric vehicle intended to provide information and promote tourism in the municipality.

The action is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination “La Vila Joiosa. Diversification of the offer and sustainable tourism management” and is financed by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU funds, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Mayor Marcos Zaragoza stated that “the vehicle allows us to extend the tourist information service to beaches, coastal areas far from the city center, and to attend fairs, urban areas with high tourist traffic, and cultural, sporting, or promotional events.” In this way, “the service can reach visitors wherever demand is highest at any time of year,” the Mayor added.

The Councillor for Tourism, Rosa Llorca, explained that “on the one hand, it functions as a mobile operations office, facilitating personalized attention, the distribution of informational materials, guidance on resources, activities and services, and the resolution of queries in real time.” On the other hand, “it will have a tourism promotion function, reinforcing the destination’s presence at events and in communication campaigns,” the councillor noted.

The vehicle will be 100% electric, with zero direct emissions, sufficient range for continuous urban and tourist use, and dimensions compatible with access to urban and tourist areas. Furthermore, it will feature full livery linked to Villajoyosa’s tourism branding, making it a valuable tool for promoting and showcasing the destination.

With this initiative, Villajoyosa is moving towards a more accessible, flexible and sustainable model of tourist services, capable of adapting to the real flows of visitors and improving the institutional presence of the destination in strategic spaces.
