Snorkel

The extensive coastline and diverse beaches and coves of La Vila Joiosa offer opportunities for various water sports. Among these is snorkeling, which involves observing the underwater world from the surface using a mask and snorkel.

It is undoubtedly the most respectful way to enter and remain in the sea, generally doing so from the coast and without polluting means, and developing on the surface without contact with the bottom and the life that is in it.
It’s an activity for children and adults; all you need is the ability to swim and be comfortable in the water. And above all, be respectful of the environment—we mustn’t forget that the sea is the largest ecosystem on our planet. Snorkeling allows us to enjoy the sea while also protecting it.
Here are six snorkeling routes, on the different beaches of La Vila, with spectacular underwater scenery and marine life waiting for you.
Snorkeling Routes

The extensive coastline and diverse beaches and coves of La Vila Joiosa offer opportunities for various water sports. Among these is snorkeling, which involves observing the underwater world from the surface using a mask and snorkel.

Snorkeling at Racó del Conill

This famous naturist cove, located in the northern part of the municipality, lies discreetly nestled between the mountains and boasts excellent turquoise waters that are usually crystal-clear and teeming with marine life.

It’s a real treat to explore its sparkling depths, constantly flanked by schools of fish—including mojarras in the rocky areas, vast schools of salpas over Posidonia oceanica seagrass beds, and mabras, herreras, or pelayas on the glistening sandy bottoms—all landscapes we encounter on this underwater tour.

Snorkeling in Varadero

Varadero Beach is located next to the Club Nàutic La Vila and adjacent to Estudiantes and Tio Roig beaches. It offers an excellent snorkeling spot, though it also has all the amenities for those who prefer to simply relax and enjoy the sun.

Snorkeling at Puntes del Moro

Just south of town, we find this excellent cove with easy parking and a beach bar where we can cool off. It’s a rocky cove—not too crowded but charming—with clear waters and a welcoming seabed.

Snorkeling at L'Esparrelló

South of La Vila Joiosa, next to the Montiboli Hotel, is the entrance to “L’Esparrelló” Beach, a secluded naturist spot. As soon as you go down the stairs, you’ll see some huge rocks where you can put on your fins, goggles, and snorkel and enter the water.

Snorkeling at La Caleta

One of the most secluded spots along La Vila’s coastline is the beach known as “La Caleta,” located at the foot of an exclusive hotel from which it can be accessed directly, although the alternative route takes you to the neighboring cove of “L’Esparrelló,” from where you can cross to the right and walk to “La Caleta.”
