Snorkeling in Varadero

In some sections, we’ll find ourselves completely surrounded by fish, ranging from small castanets to schools of bentfish, as well as solitary sea bream.

Following this entire rocky reef, keeping it on your right, is a delightful experience for the seasoned snorkeler, while those looking to observe from shallow depths, without descending, are better off moving along the top of the rocky platforms and exploring the grooves and strata formed where the reefs running parallel to the coastline overlap; here, the depth never exceeds -2 meters, and in many sections you can even walk along the bottom.

Here, the seabed is entirely rocky and compact, although toward the end of the route—where the harbor breakwater begins—loose rock slabs become increasingly common. In contrast, the more open the area becomes, the greater the abundance of Posidonia and sandy areas, also at around -7 meters.
