Situation

Vila Joiosa, historical capital of the Marina Baixa region, is a municipality on the Costa Blanca (Alicante), in the Valencian Community. It is located 8 km from Benidorm and 32 km from Alicante.

Vila Joiosa boasts 15 kilometers of coastline, offering 13 beaches and coves with certified water quality and excellent services. The municipality covers 38.5 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 35,000.

Its rich historical and cultural heritage, its extraordinary natural surroundings, its privileged climate, and its location in the heart of the Costa Blanca have made it a popular tourist destination. However, it maintains two of its traditional economic activities: the chocolate industry (with three factories still operating) and fishing. These two industries have shaped the history of the municipality and molded the character and way of life of its inhabitants.

Furthermore, its location close to other tourist cities and municipalities expands the range of leisure, cultural and festive activities offered by the city itself.

Climate

The location of La Vila Joiosa, just nine meters above sea level, gives it an exceptional, typically Mediterranean climate year-round, with practically 365 days of sunshine, very little rain, and no frost. Furthermore, being sheltered by the Sierra Aitana and Puig Campana mountains to the north, it receives all the Mediterranean warmth, enjoying an average annual temperature above 18ºC.

Summers are warm and winters are mild, with average temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C even on the coldest days. It’s common to find winter days with temperatures exceeding 20°C, allowing us to enjoy the stunning natural surroundings.

And as for the average annual water temperature of the beaches of Villajoyosa, in the Mediterranean Sea, it is 16.5º, reaching an average of 26.5º in August and 14º in February, which allows many residents and visitors to enjoy the sea throughout the year.
