Pérez Chocolates

Chocolates Pérez is an artisanal chocolate factory. It is a family-owned business that is passionate about what it does and how it does it, and this has earned it recognition from the Valencian Regional Government, which has awarded it the “Artesanía Comunitat Valenciana” seal.

A visit to Chocolates Pérez feels like tradition, like family, like coming home—and in fact, it’s the master chocolatier himself who usually serves as your guide and explains all the steps involved in the artisanal chocolate-making process. Sweet tooths, take note: the intense aroma that hits you the moment you step through the door might make you want to dive right into the machines that tirelessly stir that sweet “liquid gold.”

Before heading to the factory, we tour a small museum where we learn about the origins of cacao and how the main raw materials are processed. There’s also an extensive display of vintage machinery and various tools used in the production of this product. For many visitors, a visit to this museum will be a trip down memory lane. The museum preserves some of the trading cards that used to come with chocolate bars in the 1960s—the ones that children would stick into their collectible albums and then exchange for a gift at the neighborhood store.

This factory, along with its museum, is the legacy of several generations of chocolatiers who have kept alive the vision that Gaspar Pérez Pérez first envisioned in 1892. More than 100 years of history and passion for this fascinating product—as you know, “nine out of ten people like chocolate; the tenth is always lying.”
