The gastronomic event will include culinary experiences from local restaurants, exclusive tastings, and the celebration of the final of the First Carlos Llorca Baus Competition for young promises of Mediterranean cuisine.
Villajoyosa is preparing to celebrate the second edition of Wine & Fish on September 18th, one of the events on the “La Vila Gastronómica” calendar that once again brings together in one place some of the great protagonists of local gastronomy: the product of the fish market and the proposals of local restaurants around it and wine.
Following the success of the first edition, Wine & Fish returns to the gardens of the Barbera dels Aragonés park with a proposal that combines gastronomy, local products and experiences to enjoy a different afternoon around the flavors of Villajoyosa.
The Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Rosa Llorca, explained that “the white prawn from Villajoyosa will play a prominent role in this edition, with different dishes prepared by local restaurants.” Furthermore, attendees will be able to sample these creations and pair them with wines from participating wineries, in a gastronomic space designed to discover and enjoy new pairings.”
This proposal will be complemented by wine tastings, which will allow you to discover different wines and get closer to the world of wine in a pleasant way, while enjoying the gastronomy and atmosphere of Wine & Fish.
The Tourism Councillor indicated that “one of the highlights of this second edition will be the final of the first Carlos Llorca Baus competition for promising young Mediterranean chefs.” Rosa Llorca emphasized that “this initiative pays tribute to the founder of the ‘La Vila Gastronómica’ brand and is committed to supporting and showcasing the talent of the new generation of cooks.”
The event is organized by the Departments of Commerce and Tourism together with Bodegas Fincal, and has the institutional support of Turisme de la Generalitat Valenciana, L’Exquisit Mediterrani, the Alicante Provincial Council, GALP La Marina, VilaGourmet, the Mercat and the Fishermen’s Guild of La Vila Joiosa.
Advance tickets can be purchased until September 16th for €20 at local establishments Catavinos, Especialitats Lloret, Restaurante Cabanon, and Jugettos. On the day of the event, the price at the door will be €25. The ticket includes a commemorative glass, four wine tastings, a mojito, and a raffle ticket.
The organization will soon announce the full program, schedules, participating wineries and parallel activities through the official channels of the Villajoyosa City Council and the municipal Tourism website.
The Councillor for Tourism and Commerce highlighted that “Wine & Fish represents Villajoyosa’s ability to showcase its roots and, at the same time, generate new experiences around its gastronomy, a sector that contributes to boosting economic activity and projecting the town as a tourist destination.”
