The Villajoyosa City Council receives 20,800 euros from the Valencian Regional Government for the modernization, maintenance, and technical upgrades of Vilamuseu

This grant will make it possible to carry out infrastructure improvements to continue the work of preserving, restoring, and promoting the municipality’s archaeological and historical heritage

The Villajoyosa City Council has received a grant of 20,800 euros from the Valencian Regional Government, earmarked entirely for Vilamuseu, the town’s municipal museum. The funding will support a comprehensive project for the modernization, preventive conservation, equipping, and technical upgrading of the museum facilities.

This grant will make it possible to upgrade the center’s equipment and undertake infrastructure improvements in order to continue the work of preserving, restoring, and promoting the municipality’s archaeological and historical heritage.

Mayor Marcos Zaragoza stated that “every euro invested in Vilamuseu is an investment in the preservation of our history and in the future of Villajoyosa. “After completing the Permanent Exhibition project, we continue to upgrade the facilities to offer a modern, comfortable, and fully accessible space for all our residents and visitors.” Marcos Zaragoza added that “excellence in cultural management is demonstrated through action and the ongoing pursuit of funding to ensure the preservation of our heritage.”

Rosa Llorca, Councilwoman for Historical Heritage, noted that “this grant from the Valencian Regional Government supports the rigorous work carried out daily by the technical team at Vilamuseu. It allows us to maintain the highest standards of preventive conservation in our collections and to continue ensuring that access to the museum is 100% inclusive.”

The projects funded by this grant will focus on three priority areas and are aimed at improving environmental conditions, climate control, and safety in the exhibition halls and storage areas to ensure the preservation of

optimal use of the archaeological and ethnographic collections. Another initiative focuses on Exhibition Modernization, involving the renewal of display stands, showcases, and technical equipment in the galleries to optimize the visitor experience. Finally, in the areas of Inclusion and Accessibility, the museum is utilizing adapted tools and resources that solidify Vilamuseu’s position as a European benchmark for museum accessibility.
