La Vila Vella

La Vila Vella began as a neighborhood initiative aimed at revitalizing the historic center of Villajoyosa through culture, art, and community participation. Over the years, the project has grown to become one of the city’s most prominent cultural events, currently organized by the Villajoyosa City Council with the essential collaboration of associations, artists, businesses, cultural groups, and numerous residents and volunteers.

For several days, the streets and squares of the historic center are transformed into a vast open-air cultural stage featuring artistic performances, temporary architectural installations, live music, theater, dance, exhibitions, children’s workshops, guided tours, urban installations, participatory activities, and creative offerings for audiences of all ages.

Each edition features new experiences and ways to discover the historic district from a contemporary and Mediterranean perspective, bringing together heritage, urban art, photography, literature, gastronomy, and popular culture. Balcony events, open houses, music venues, traveling performances, family activities, and visual installations transform every corner of the old town into a vibrant and dynamic space.

Thanks to its strong social commitment and the participatory nature of the project, La Vila Vella has become a unique cultural initiative in the Marina Baixa, capable of bringing together historical heritage, contemporary creativity, and neighborhood life in one of Villajoyosa’s most distinctive settings.
