Villajoyosa Becomes the Global Hub of Canoeing: The 2026 World Sea Kayak Championships Are Coming
From October 8 to 11, 2026, the Costa Blanca will host the most anticipated event for lovers of the sea and speed: the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships. The Villajoyosa Yacht Club will welcome more than 700 elite paddlers from all corners of the globe, who will compete for the world title in one of the most spectacular disciplines of canoeing.
Ocean Racing is pure adrenaline. Aboard lightweight, fast surfskis, athletes will tackle an open-water course ranging from 15 to 22 kilometers. The main attraction of this competition is the downwind category , where paddlers strategically harness the power of the wind and swells to ride the waves and reach breakneck speeds.
